Chinese Lunar New Year February 1, 2022:  Year of the Water Tiger & and Insightful Tip on Why You Should Never Lose Sight of the Big Picture

2022 is the Year of the Water Tiger. People born in the year of the Tiger have the characteristics of bravery, confidence & strength – very much like the King of the Jungle. The Chinese idiom “crouching tiger, hidden dragon” loosely translates as the two animals representing people with hidden talents. The idiom is used to remind people never to underestimate anyone. However, an elderly and wise Chinese man once gave me this interpretation: “When you focus on the Tiger you believe is hiding in the jungle foliage in front of you, you never see the Dragon that has encircled you.”  Always remember that micro-managing is just that – micro/minute (the Tiger).  Great leaders and game-changers are always seeing the big picture (the Dragon).  The same transcends to your competition.  Never underestimate what you deem as ‘obvious and mediocre’.  You might be fooled and later find out that the Tiger you believe you know is really the Dragon that can encircle and swallow you whole.

On that note, Happy Chinese Lunar New Year and stay tuned for my next Info-Brief!
