How you present yourself and your ideas, products, or company can mean the difference between landing a contract or receiving a ‘thanks but no thanks’. Here are a few tips for transforming your pitch deck into a powerful presentation:
Know who your audience is. Rehearse your pitch and be certain that your digital presentation will operate smoothly and without glitches of any kind. Dress appropriately, be concise and clear, and be resilient. Ensure that your presentation allows sufficient time for Q & A and remember – you are only scheduled for a pre-determined time slot. If you are given a 30 minute appointment for your presentation, be mindful and use your time wisely.
The Presentation
- Should follow chronological order. Stick with your progression of points – do not jump from one thought to another.
- Description of company or products/services.
- Do your research beforehand – know what your client’s needs, pain points and frustrations are and how you can solve these issues (problem = solution). Know the client’s mission statement, beliefs, expectations and deliverables.
The Deck
- Provide substance: your value proposition, competitive advantage, and experience.
- Define the market and the problem you solve.
- State the value you bring, why you are better than the competition and why the prospective client should believe you.
